ANN STREET PARTY

The iconic ANN STREET PARTY returns to the Valley! The face of the Valley will transform, as films, exhibitions, fashion, performance and live music take over the shopfronts of Ann Street and Wickham St. Expect the unexpected, with this Nine Lives collaboration. Plus, join us for the ANN STREET PARTY After Party at CLUB FIESTA.

Supported by Brisbane City Council through the Lord Mayor's Creative City Initiative Ann's Street Party was originally conceived and produced by Clare Carmody, Jillian McKeague and Matty Roberts (Friends of Ann) in 2004, and later joined by Genevieve Kelly. This crazy collective had a vision: to transform the shiny and iconic shopfront windows along Ann Street. This meant filling them with interactive performances and local stories, resulting in a unique public art event that connected directly with the inhabitants of Fortitude Valley. The boutique stores were up for it and Brisbane's emerging artists were more than enthusiastic to transfer their creativity to the other side of the glass. Together, these people transformed Ann Street into Brisbane's best Party for one special night: for three years running. Over this time, Ann's Street Party was managed by an ever growing ensemble of young and passionate emerging artists and arts-workers. Their collective success was made possible by the generous support of industry mentors and organisations like Youth Arts Queensland, Brisbane Festival, Brisbane City Council, Arts Queensland and QUT. Ann's Street Party has featured in the SOoB Festival (2004) and Brisbane Festival (2006) programs. The event also ran independently in 2005. Ann's Street Party grew in size and popularity every year, whilst always maintaining a creative, risky, interactive and DIY approach to art and how it can be experienced. The Ann Street Party of Valley Fiesta 2010 gratefully acknowledges the artists and organisations that inspired this remounted event. A collaboration with Nine Lives and the young artists supported by the Lord Mayor's Creative City Initiative aims to keep alive the independent emerging artist vibe that Ann's Street Party was so well loved for. So, as Ann always says. Party on.
