The Mess Hall's guide to The Differences Between Touring and Holidaying...

Before I get into the particulars of my visit to the world’s most annoying (and useless) department store, I’d like to take a moment to outline the differences between touring and simply going on holiday.
Because I’m sure a lot of people think touring is going on holiday! Not so…When on tour (at our level anyway), you generally look quite dishevelled, you don’t get much sleep and you eat a lot of unhealthy food because that is what twenty pounds per day affords you (obviously we are talking about England here).

This is of no consequence to your public standing, because there is something mysterious about you, you have a golden glow, a little exotic lilt to your walk and, a slight air of madness about you- particularly if you have been away for awhile.

You are Napoleon at St Helena. You get free drinks, but that is about it.
